2020: A Look Back at Our Innovations
Innovation No. 1: The paper stick (recyclable in the paper/cardboard stream)

At the end of 2019, we chose a sauce portion that is recyclable in the paper/cardboard stream.
Technical characteristics:
- Mostly paper-based composition, watertight and provides an oxygen barrier.
- Recyclable in accordance with EN 13430 – paper/cardboard recycling stream.
- 4 to 5-color printing possible – recommended: 2 colors – matte varnish. Opaque finish
This stick format is currently used in our Ilou sauce range for chili oil (4 ml) and ketchup (10 ml).
For our Soreal Care hand sanitizer brand, we also developed a 3 ml hydroalcoholic gel dose in this paper/cardboard packaging.
Innovation No. 2: Avocanaise, an avocado-based sauce in a mayonnaise style
Last February, our Avocanaise sauce was nominated for the Snacking d’Or 2020 in the Sauces and Condiments category.
Last year, for our first participation, our egg-free burger sauce also won this award. We are proud of the potential of these 100% plant-based sauces!
Presented as a smooth and creamy sauce, Avocanaise stands out with its fruit content (30%) and its authentic taste of perfectly ripe avocado. As a delicate fruit that spoils quickly, avocado can sometimes be challenging to incorporate into recipes. Whether used as a salad dressing, to enhance a burger, or in a sandwich, Avocanaise has everything to appeal thanks to its genuine and original flavor. This sauce offers snacking professionals an innovative solution to incorporate avocado into their dishes and surprise their customers.
In March, the competition results were announced. Avocanaise won the Snacking d’Or trophy in the Sauces and Condiments category.
Innovation No. 3: Launch of the Soreal Care brand in March 2020
Friday, March 27, 2020 marked a turning point in SOREAL’s activity. For the first time, and in the midst of the health crisis, our company restarted operations with the involvement of our employees and a packaging line that had been shut down due to restaurant closures, in order to fill bottles with hydroalcoholic solution.
Drawing on our packaging expertise, we were called upon to meet an urgent need from public hospitals for hydroalcoholic solution. Soreal also responded to the needs of the military and other private companies.
Today, we have a dedicated hand hygiene brand, Soreal Care. All our products are virucidal (EN 14476), bactericidal (EN 1276, EN 13727), fungicidal (EN 13624) and yeasticidal (EN 13624), including against Covid-19.
Three packaging lines are now in operation. The range we have chosen to develop, reflecting our food industry expertise, focuses on individual formats. We aim to make hydroalcoholic gel accessible in practical, single-use formats that are not widely available on the market, such as the fully paper/cardboard-recyclable single-dose sachet (EN 13430 standard) or the 30 ml mini bottle.
Innovation No. 4: New cheese sauce recipes in eco-friendly packaging
The Ilou range is expanding its cheese sauce offering with four new recipes that enhance flavor in dishes or simply provide a smooth, creamy texture: Brie Sauce and Goat Cheese & Honey Sauce, as well as more intense recipes such as Raclette Sauce and Cheddar Jalapeño Sauce. Melting, original, and flavorful, these new recipes (to which Cheddar Sauce should also be added) are all free from preservatives.
The innovation is complete! These new recipes come in a revolutionary pack: the Sempack® 100% recyclable squeezable flexible bottle.
This innovative packaging uses 75% less plastic compared to standard rigid packaging on the market. Developed in France by our supplier SEMCO, this 100% recyclable flexible bottle (including the cap), unique on the market, is based on the concept of a pastry piping bag. Original and ergonomic, this conical flexible sauce pouch is made of a multilayer mono-material film that can stand either upright or upside down.
Resistant to high pressure, this packaging offers optimal precision and control of the desired dose while ensuring improved product evacuation, with up to 96% of the total product contained in the bottle being dispensed, minimizing product loss and reducing food waste. Easy to compact after use, it significantly reduces waste volume in kitchens.
